Tournament Rules

  1. MISREPRESENTATION (about your name or rating) WILL GET YOU BLACKLISTED.
    Players who enter or play under a false name or who do not disclose any current beach ratings will be immediately disqualified and are subject to a permanent ban from the tournament. Players may be required to provide identification upon request of the committee. 

    2. ONLY THE COMMITTEE CAN CHANGE PARTNERS.
    Players may not make any unauthorized substitutions, either for no-shows, trading partners with a consenting team, or for any other reason. Also prohibited is informal subbing for a player who is temporarily unable to play with their assigned partner. Persons caught violating this rule forfeit all games played and may be barred permanently from the tournament. 

    3. WHAT TO DO ABOUT NO-SHOWS:
    The Pool Captain (Pool Captain is Team 1 / Player 1) should check off on the Pool Sheet all present players. At the designated time (as announced over the PA system), the Pool Captain should do, or designate someone to do, the following- READ CAREFULLY:

a. For all teams with SINGLE PERSONS missing from a team:
The other (present) player of all single teams should go to the Committee tent and BRING THE POOL SHEET.

b. When there are MISSING TEAMS (both players of one team): 
The Pool Captain should bring Pool Sheet to the Committee tent.

c. When there are SINGLE PERSONS and MISSING TEAMS:
The Pool captain should stay and play, while designating SOMEBODY ELSE TO BRING THE POOL SHEET WITH ALL MISSING PERSON INFO to the Committee tent.

4. TURNING IN THE POOL SHEET AT THE END OF THE DAY
It is the responsibility of the WINNING TEAM to turn the pool sheet into the Committee Tent. The first and second place teams should be clearly marked.

5. CVBA PLAYING RULES ARE FOLLOWED.
Rules to remember: one toss serve; block counts as touch; no "double" on first contact.

6. GAMES ARE PLAYED RALLY SCORE TO 25, WIN BY 2, CAP AT 30.
Keep track of your wins and your points. Ties will be broken in the following order:

a. Head-to-head points for two tied teams;
b. Point differential among three tied teams;
c. Point differential among all pool games played.
d. Coin flip

It is not necessary that the games be played according to order shown on the pool sheet so long as all games are played in a timely manner. 

  1. TWO TEAMS FROM EACH POOL WILL PLAY IN SUNDAY TOURNAMENT. 

a. Be ready to play at 8:30 Sunday AM. Your team and court assignment will be called on the PA loudspeakers. If your team is not ready to play within 10 (ten) minutes, you will forfeit. After ten minutes, a representative from the present team will go to the Committee tent to advise. No changes once the round is advanced. 
b. Tournament winners get prizes!!!

8. PLEASE CLEAN UP YOUR AREA OF THE BEACH WHEN YOU ARE DONE.
